Our Scope

Powerpoints where you need them

AB Electrical installs additional outlets, replaces damaged fittings, relocates powerpoints and investigates outlets that no longer work. Kitchens, desks, televisions and bedside layouts each need a position that is useful and accessible.

Outlet installations and repairs

  • Additional powerpoints
  • Damaged outlet replacement
  • Outlet relocations
  • USB-integrated outlet options
  • Outdoor, garage and wet-area outlets
  • Non-working outlet diagnosis

The work starts with the appliances and devices you intend to connect. More outlets do not increase circuit capacity, so we assess the circuit and wiring rather than simply adding another socket.

Planning the position

Location, load and cable access

A convenient position must also suit the room, wiring and equipment. For a renovation, mark out appliance and furniture locations before walls are lined so the wiring can be planned around the finished layout.

For heat, sparking or a burning smell, stop using the outlet and keep away. Do not touch it to check its temperature or unplug equipment from a damaged or overheating fitting. Call from a safe place; for smoke, fire or immediate danger, leave and call 000.

Why AB Electrical

Why people choose AB Electrical for powerpoints

You deal with the same electrician throughout your electrical work. If a fault is caused by our installation or repair workmanship, we put it right at no extra charge.

Small jobs welcome

One damaged outlet or several new positions can be assessed. There is no minimum-job fee.

The circuit checked first

We consider the equipment you will connect and explain whether the existing circuit is suitable or other work is needed.

Access explained before work

The cable route, any wall opening and separate patching or painting are discussed as part of the scope.

The finished work tested

New and repaired outlets are tested before handover, with any circuit changes explained.

Position to testing

How we install or repair the outlets

Straightforward jobs often take half an hour to a couple of hours. The number of outlets, cable access and any circuit work can change that timing. You deal with the electrician carrying out the work.

Powerpoint installation and repair cost guides

These indicative ranges are for early budgeting, not an AB Electrical price schedule. The quote confirms the outlets, wiring and access needed. Planned work is quoted in writing; a damaged or sparking outlet needs a call about the immediate work required.

New powerpoint installation (single)
$180 – $320

What affects the final price

  • Whether the outlet is on an existing circuit or needs a new run
  • Access behind walls, under floors, or into ceiling cavities
  • Wall type — plaster, brick, tile, or weatherboard
  • Whether patching or painting is needed after install
  • How many outlets are being done in one visit

All figures are indicative. Planned work is quoted in writing before it starts. For urgent work, call to discuss the fault and likely costs.
